Since 1947, the Lions Club of Park Ridge has been involved in a variety of philanthropic activities. Through our annual Candy Days, as well as other fundraising events, the Club provides grants to individuals and organizations that assist with education, equipment and special projects for problems associated with hearing, vision and other disabilities.
The Club collects used eyeglasses for reuse by needy individuals worldwide and supports the State Lions vision and hearing screening programs.
Locally, the Park Ridge Lions have provided funding for:
The Park Ridge Library;
Avenues to Independence-Developmental disability programs;
Programs at Maine South High School
Center of Concern-Senior issues;
Center on Deafness;
District 64 Special Education;
Blind Service Association;
Cris Radio-newspaper, magazine and other readings for persons with blindness;
Johanna Bureau for the Blind;
Have Dreams-Programs for children with autism;
Additionally, individual support grants and scholarships to residents of Park Ridge who are in need of vision, hearing or other disability support services have been provided. Special projects such as park improvements, recreational programs and other needs of the Park Ridge community have also been funded by the Lions Club.
